A darkly comical whodunnit. Three characters (He, She and It) are accompanied by piano in this fast-paced and lyrical one-act opera by Madeleine Dring (1923-1977). Her Fantasy Sonata for solo piano will also feature: a youthful and loveable work written when Dring was just a teenager.

Madeleine Dring was a wonderfully creative composer and musician. She studied composition, piano, violin, singing, and ‘dramatic’ at the Royal College of Music from 1933-45. Her output includes many art songs, chamber works and solo instrumental works, as well as works written for the stage, TV and radio.

Trigger warning: whilst Cupboard Love is a comedy, please note that this performance references a variety of adult themes and sensitive topics including suicide. Audience discretion is advised.
